About CLF

Our

Story

CLF is an independent, non-denominational church founded and based in Kingston, Jamaica since July 1981.

Our vision is to be a strong local church from which many multi-faceted ministries will originate to impact Jamaica, the Caribbean, and the world for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Our call is to be a church through which God will impact Jamaica, and from which God will send people to other lands to establish works there to thrive.

CLF
MISSION

Our call is to be a church through which God will impact Jamaica, and from which God will send people to other lands to establish works there to thrive.

From our very humble beginnings in 1981 when about 50 persons squeezed into the “mini”-chapel at CAST (now UTECH), then to different locations on the UWI campus, later at Jamaica College, and finally settling down at our current home, we have grown to become a medium-sized church whose impact belies our relatively small numbers.

Over these years, hundreds of persons have ‘passed through’ our doors and most can testify of a life-changing experience through Bible-centered teaching, vibrant worship, earnest prayer, warm fellowship, social activism and evangelistic outreach.

Through migration and a vast network of returning tertiary students, the reach of CLF extends to virtually every parish in Jamaica, to many Caribbean nations, to the USA, UK, Canada, and other nations of the world. Despite many challenges, we have seen the grace of God manifested in and through this local church, and for this we give much thanks to Him, even as we depend on His continuing grace to take us the rest of the journey to fulfill the vision.

Why This Church?

Christian Life Fellowship originated from times of revival, where young men and women committed themselves to challenging each other towards a wholehearted, sincere devotion to God, and to applying New Testament principles and patterns to their personal and corporate lives.

CLF

VISION

We believe that God wants Christian Life Fellowship to be a strong home-base (local church) from which many multi-faceted ministries will originate to impact Jamaica, the Caribbean, and the world, for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

This vision is derived and confirmed by:

  1. The Biblical models on which the church was conceived - the patterns of church life taught in the New Testament including the Jerusalem church and the Antioch church as described in the Acts of the Apostles. (Acts 2:42-47, Acts 13:1 3).

  2. God's investment in the church - many gifted men and women who are called by God to impact the nation and the world.

  3. Specific prophetic words which have been proclaimed to and accepted by the church.

  4. The convictions of the leadership team (elders and other leading men and women).ng in people being constantly added to the church. (Acts 2:47)

  • A people living authentic, consistent, and holy Christ-like lives while awaiting the return of the Lord. (Tit. 2:11-14)

  • A people who speak prophetically to social issues and who are involved in social action. (Gal. 2:10, James 1:27)

  • An effective training and development programme geared to equip various ministers. (2 Tim. 2:2)

What Is A 'Strong Home-Base'?
A strong home-base is characterized by the following:

  • The consistent teaching of sound doctrine, and a people devoted to obeying God's words. (Acts 2:42-47)

  • A united people of one heart and voice, with the same mind and judgment, committed to community life and fellowship; that is, a sharing of resources to meet the needs of each other and meeting with each other on a regular basis to be mutually strengthened. (Eph. 4:3, Rom. 15:5-6, 1Cor. 1:10, Heb. 10:24-25)

  • Prayer as a way of life of our Fellowship. (Eph. 6:18)

  • The manifestation of God's power as a norm in the life of the Fellowship. (Eph. 3:17-19, 1Cor. 1:4-9)

  • Ongoing evangelism resulting in people being constantly added to the church.

(2 Tim. 2:2)

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of God written and complete, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and it is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

God

We believe in one eternal, infinite, and sovereign God, manifested to man as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his incarnation through the virgin birth as fully man, while being fully God. We believe in the fact of Jesus’ sinless life, in His atonement for man through His shed blood and death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal visible return in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict men of sin, and of regenerating, sanctifying, illuminating, comforting, empowering, and preserving all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a separate experience from conversion in which the believer is empowered to be an effective witness and to live victoriously.

Satan

We believe Satan is a spiritual being, the originator of sin and the enemy of God and man, whose destiny is eternal punishment.

Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with God but fell into sin and that man can only be restored to his God-intended relationship through true repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Future Things

We believe in:

  1. The premillennial, post-tribulation, personal bodily and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

  2. The resurrection of the just and the unjust.

  3. The eternal blessedness of the redeemed.

  4. The conscious eternal punishment of unbelievers in what the Bible refers to as hell.

The Local Church

We believe that the local church is a gathered assembly of people who have been born again, called out from the world, separated unto the Lord Jesus Christ, voluntarily associated for the ministry of the Word, the mutual edification of its members, the propagation of the faith, and the observance of the ordinances.

We believe that it is a sovereign, independent body exercising its own divinely awarded gifts, precepts, and privileges under the lordship of Jesus Christ, the great head of the Church.

We believe that its officers are Elders and deacons and other leaders chosen and affirmed by the individual local assembly.
